~Our Signature Community Projects~

The Free The Food Stands (FTFS) project was started by two of our original Board members in 2020.  Since then it’s grown to 10 stands around the county. (see the map below)

The intent is to provide mini, grassroots food distribution that allows gardeners to share their excess produce with the community.  The Chico and Paradise planning departments and the Butte County Health Department have given approval for these stands, provided the community support basic rules.

Please share:

  • Whole produce you grew in your garden or gleaned directly.

  • Also allowed are plant starts and seeds.

Please: Do not leave

  • Cooked food from home or elsewhere

  • Food purchased from a store, ie cans, jars, bags of food either whole or open

  • Food items that need to be refrigerated

  • Animal products

  • Non-food items.

By following these rules we can continue to provide this service for everyone to share their garden excess.  If there are complaints, we may lose them. Thanks for being community minded!
