Join Us To Create A Strong Local Food System

Greetings!

The Garden BLITZ On The Burn Scar is in full swing. We are SO excited and grateful that, due to a generous grant from the North Valley Community Foundation and the Butte Strong Fund, all gardens will be gifts.  These foundations rock and are committed to all sorts of projects to support those on the Burn Scar to recover. If you, your friends or family are on the Burn Scar and have not yet applied for your free, fully loaded  4×4’ raised bed garden box, please go here and apply by August 3 for consideration.

Next Step? Come together and see this BLITZ get done.

Yes, we need volunteers (lots of them) to install 50 gardens on the lands of our neighbors and friends that are still in recovery, now amplified by COVID.

Our Team’s personal experience is that there is nothing that feels better than to join hands in community and work together to create even more community. We humans need this right now as we are being ripped apart from this devastating Bug and its ongoing impacts to mind, body, spirit and sense of safety and security.

Please find two or three other COVID-Bubble Safe family and/or close friends and join us in an effort that brings joy to all who participate, whether giving or receiving. Get out of the house, into the air for a few hours and plant gardens and seeds of hope for each other in these Crazy Times. Safely.

You’ll need to have or have access to a truck for your COVID Bubble Team as you’ll need to be able to transport the wood, soil and other parts of the gardens to the gardeners’ homes. If you don’t have a truck but do have the people, let us know and we’ll see what we can work out.

There are half day (2-3.5 hours/2-3 gardens) and full day (3-5 hours/ 3-4 gardens) shifts. Sign yourself or your team up here today! We will ask the gardeners to stay in their houses or at least 10 masked feet away from the team to ensure you all feel comfy.

We CAN create community and food security safely. And food safety is going to increasingly be an issue as the months roll along. Join us, make gardens and feel good about Life!

Short Film Makers needed for our Video Team. We want to start putting out more shorts to let all know about our amazing local food community. We are so excited about our farmers, gardeners, cooks, educators and more that we can’t wait to introduce them to you, too.

Volunteers will join a team we can call upon to go on adventure interviews, then edit them to make them pretty. Added bonus- Dan Carter,  Chico State teacher of videography is willing to train you!! So, you get to work with an expert, build your portfolio AND volunteer to get the word out about your local food community. Contact us for this wonderful opportunity!

Other projects active or in the works- Glean Team, Seed Saving, Blogging for the News Section in our website, Garden Mentors, Grant writing and more. Contact us with any area of interest you have and we are sure we can find a way for you to join us. We have work that needs doing both outside in gardens and in your home if you feel more comfortable staying inside and solo. The larger our Team, the more we can get done for the community!
